Hitomi Broadcast takes the guesswork out of timing with cloud-based solutions showcased at NAB 2023

If you were at NAB 2023, you might have noticed the buzz around Hitomi Broadcast's booth in the UK Pavilion. As a market leader in audio/video alignment and latency tools, we were showcasing our cutting-edge latency and lip-sync solutions that are simple, cost-effective and in high demand for remote productions.

With the rapid growth of remote production and IP contribution, the interest in these tools is higher than ever, especially with big events coming up in the UK in the next few weeks such as the coronation and Eurovision Song Contest. Our latest addition to the MatchBox range is the ability to measure end-to-end latency over a broadcast path. Using MatchBox Latency to establish the delay over each circuit before using MatchBox to synchronise pictures and sound can help minimise latency and ensure precision alignment based on data rather than trying to match them by eye.

But what really got people talking was Hitomi's lip-sync measurement in the cloud. Attendees were able to see a live demonstration of a file-based version of MatchBox, which is widely recognised as the industry standard in lip-sync measurements. The MatchBox Glass iPhone app makes it even simpler to quickly line up each camera feed, great for managing lip-sync in critical situations such as remote productions at major sports events where large numbers of feeds are sent back to the central control room.

Being present at major tradeshows such as NAB is really important for Hitomi Broadcast because it helps us show people just how simple the MatchBox system is and to demonstrate how it can transform outside broadcasts and remote productions. It also gives us the chance to showcase the latest developments, like our commitment to SMPTE ST2110, and our solutions for MatchBox in cloud architectures.

Hitomi Broadcast's show presence drew attention from the media and we were featured in several publications, including SVG, APB News, NAB Show Daily and KitPlus TV (see below).

If you're interested in learning more about Hitomi Broadcast's solutions, be sure to get in touch with us to schedule a meeting to discuss your requirements. And if you’re based in the UK, make sure you come along to the Media Production and Technology Show where you can see a live demo of the system for yourself.
